RESIDENTS AND LANDOWNERS
OPPOSE GAS DRILLING
Our survey of
landowners and residents in the Town of Burlington found those opposed to gas
drilling outnumbered those who favor the practice by more than 2 to 1. Of the
478 people who responded, 294 (61%) opposed drilling, 133 (28%) favored
drilling and 51 (11%) answered unsure. There are 698 registered voters in
town.
Detailed results of this survey were presented to the Town Board at their
September 13th, 2011 meeting. We have urged the board to adopt a Comprehensive
Plan without delay and to consider the views of this significant number of
people in the community.
